© How We Serve
Since its inception in 1990, the Ministry has been serving the basic human needs of families in temporary financial crisis. Services are provided to residents in East Fort Bend County as well as referral from area congregations and other social agencies.
In 2007, the Ministry provided food for 36,702 Fort Bend County residents; 14,976 of these residents were children; 6,691 homebound senior citizens received weekend food supplements; 2,198 individuals received holiday baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas for a traditional holiday meal; 738 people (413 children) avoided eviction from their home; 166 families were assisted with their utility bills; 460 school-age children received school supplies through the Supply Our Students (SOS) program.
The Interfaith Food Pantry, Financial Assistance Program and Tri-City Churches Resale Shop are run primarily by volunteers utilizing their time and talent daily with care and compassion to make a real difference in the lives of children, adults and the elderly in our community.
Donations from area businesses, coalition congregations, schools, civic organizations and individuals as well as grants from foundations provide ongoing support so that East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry can continue to help our community neighbors in need. |
